Kindergarten

Kindergarte

Jingili Kindergarten is positioned ‘off campus’ on Jingili Terrace and is co-located with Jingili Preschool.
Managed by the YMCA of the Northern Territory Ltd, hours of operation are from 7:00am to 5.30pm.
We are a 61 place long day care centre, providing opportunity for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years, to participate in a wonderfully unique environment, offering a variety of indoor and outdoor activities on a daily basis. We provide nutritious meals throughout the day, promoting the health and wellbeing of all children in our care.
Our staff are highly committed educators, who all hold, or are working towards, qualifications in the early childhood care and education profession. Our educators’ ongoing professional development is paramount to our service, and is always promoted and supported by the YMCA.
We embrace the National Quality framework, and ensure that this is reflected throughout our Centre, as we strive to continually offer high quality care and education. Our programs reflect the principles, practices and learning outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework, where children’s interests and strengths are used to guide the program, and promote further learning.

The YMCA of the Northern Territory Ltd is committed to providing a Child Safe environment to all children who come into our care. We are safeguarding children accredited through the Australian Childhood Foundation.

Our centre has three designated groups which cater for the different age groups. These are:
Caterpillars
The Caterpillars group caters for eight babies between the ages of six weeks and 12 months old. This room has two qualified staff who have extensive experience working with babies. The Caterpillars room is huge which allows the babies space to move around and explore their environment. There is also a wonderful outdoor area which has been newly renovated for the little ones to play in.

Joeys
The Joeys group is for children between the ages of one and three years old. This room provides the children with the opportunity to engage in various developmentally appropriate and exciting activities throughout the day that are age appropriate.

 Kangaroos
The Kangaroos group is for children between the ages of three to five years old. It provides a very stimulating environment for the children to investigate and explore whilst developing long lasting relationships with their peers. Jingili Kindergarten maintains strong links with the Jingili Preschool. All children who attend Jingili Kindergarten can attend Jingili Preschool when they come of age. Being on the same campus means there is a seamless transition between the Kindergaten and the Preschool on a daily basis. Currently children can attend Preschool each morning for 3 hours per day Monday to Friday or alternatively full days on Wednesday and Thursday with a half day Friday.

 Cooking Program
Once a week at Jingili Kindergarten all the children participate in a weekly cooking program. This engaging experience allows the children to interact in real life experience, even the Caterpillar group (the babies) love mixing and stirring the different ingredients together.
